Ritual model - performance to receive a shared experience. Transmission model - transmit communication, a model on how we transfer meaning and understanding from sender to receiver. A source sends a message over a channel to a receiver (smcr) Source - knowledge, culture, attitude, communication skill all affect the message. Message - content, code, treatment (all have to be used to create the message) Channel - audio, visual, print, film, etc. (senses become involved when deciding how to receive the message, more channels = more clarity) Receiver - knowledge, culture, attitude, communication skill (all used to decode the message that has been sent through a channel from a sender) Anything that is noise in the channel is what gets in the way of the receiver understanding the message from the sender. Environmental noise - if you actually cannot hear or see (ex: smudge on paper, cut off from radio)
