Mainland populated concentrated in river valleys and deltas. Appropriate system when population densities remain low. Higher population densities have led to changes. Green revolution has helped yields keep pace with demand. Philippines, laos, cambodia have high birth rates. Cities are growing but mostly rural population. Primate cities suffer from overcrowding and pollution.
