Factors influencing early childhood programs: demographics: poverty/single parenthood/maternal employment, child abuse, child health concerns, families in need of support, early childhood initiatives. Health care concerns: lack of prenatal care. Inadequate nutrition: not fully immunized, unsafe, stress producing environments. Infant child care: birth- 3 years, need more quality care, most expensive child care, higher costs: adult/child ratio (1 caregiver/ 3 or 4 infants, some believe care center takes over family responsibilities and children have attachment problems.
