Economic security: assured basic income/ social safety net. Health security: minimum protection from disease/unhealthy lifestyle. Environmental security: protection form the short and long-term effects of war, man- made threats in nature, deterioration of the natural environment. Political security: living in an environment that honors basic human rights, freedom from government control over ideas and information. Guns vs. butter the state has limited resources, and sometimes sacrifices one of military power or social goods for the other: e. g. military spending may take away from building a social safety-net.
