Nyc 1st hotel in 1794: dining and dancing for wealthy clientele on broadway. Spa vacations began (popular in saratoga springs, ny) 2nd famous hotel is tremonth house in boston 1829 (1st luxury hotel) Indoor toilets and provided private bedrooms and locks on the doors. Buffalo statler, ny 1907: middle class evolved. 1st modern (middle class) hotel (1st chains) 30s: great depression hotel setback~85% hotels went out of business.
