Pleural cavities (lung: visceral pleura on lung, parietal pleura outside lining, lobes. Mediastinum: contains the heart and surrounding tissues, located between the lungs. Pericardial cavity (heart): blood supply: superior & inferior vena cava, aorta, coronary a, pulmonary a. & pulmonary v: atria (atrium) (l&r, ventricles (l&r, valves: Aorta: fetal blood flow: mother supplies oxygenated blood; lungs are filled with fluid so blood cant go in, not active. Descending aorta: adult circulation (changes in adults): Ligamentum arteriosum (from ductus arteriosus: abdominal cavity: Borders: superiorly diaphragm m, inferiorly pelvic floor muscles, posteriorly lumbar vertebrae, anteriorly/laterally abdominal mm. (internal & external oblique mm. ) Houses most of the internal organs: esophagus, stomach, liver, large & small intestines. Gives rise to: 35 days-- 90 rotation of stomach: foregut: stomach, esophagus, most of small intestine. & liver: midgut: rest of small intestine, some large intestine, hindgut: remainder of large intestine.
