Types of personality tests: projective tests, e. g. , rorschach, tat, objective tests. Have no evidence that it"s actually measuring the construct i am measuring. Relies on what you have already known. Not very scientific: empirical approach (a. k. a. Different groups, one of the group has the thing you want to measure, one doesn"t, you look for things you want to measure in these different groups. Choosing items that they answer your questions from different perspectives. First, have to identify the groups that are different. The content of the item doesn"t really matter, what matters is that people answer different things differently. Advantages: the data analysis is not very complex, the content doesn"t. 2 questions that are correlated together, and you look at how people response to these questions, Identify items that are reflective of underlying dimensions (underlying personality) Disadvantage: as the test getting longer, it"s harder to keep track with the correlation.
