Locomotive soul: everything the vegetative soul could do + move, basic emotions. Rational soul: everything the locomotive soul could do + rationality, thought, reason. Usual events, don"t keep continual adjustment usually have local effects so they don"t get out of control: negative feedback. When you get too hot, sweat, keeps temperature range. Keeps body within certain parameters: homeostatic imbalance. Kingdom amalia- eukaryotic, multicellular, heterotrophic, lacking cell walls, motile, blastula stage of embryonic development. Phylum chordata: notochord (different from spinal cord) at some point, bilaterally symmetric, deuterostomes- first opening in blastula becomes the anus. Class mammalia- neocortex, hair, 3 middle ear bones, and ability to nurse young. Family hominidae- all great apes (gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, humans) Genus homo- man (some extinct species), homo sapiens (wise man) are the only extant species in this genus. Study of the parts of the body and how they relate to each other. Gross/macroscopic anatomy- study of body parts visible to naked eye.
