Bone formation: around 8 weeks: there is not osseous tissue, only hyaline cartilage and a little ct, 9th week: osseous tissue begins to replace the cartilage and ct as it dies, two types of bone formation: Long bones: structure, diaphysis, tubular shaft forms long axis, compact bone surrounding medullary cavity, hallowed out core, red bone marrow in kids, yellow bone marrow in adults. Bone growth & development: epiphyses: ends of bone, compact bone and internal spongy bone, articular cartilage: regions at top and bottom, between these two parts is the epiphyseal line. In an adult, this is osseous tissue (compact bone); Bone growth & development: ossification (osteogenic, osteoblasts begin to secrete into empty space, bone begins to move up into other zones with empty space, slowly growing upward.
