There is definitely a lot more than what piaget thought, but a lot of development is occurring as well. Objects behave according to these principles: cohesion connectedness and boundedness, continuity spatiotemporal continuity and solidity, contact movement only results from contact, gravity and support objects fall unless supported. It turns out that even infants expect objects to behave according to: continuity. Do not jump from one place and time to another: solidity. No parts of two distinct objects coincide in space and time.
