Damage to welfare - trees and crops, reduced visibility, damage to lakes and other waters. Air quality on human health - particulate matter, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide, lead. Particulate matter is sorted by size an comes from volcanic ash, forest fires, dust, and sea spray. Anthropogenic sources - fossil fuel combustion in cars and power generation, road and field dust, residential field burning. Caused by bacterial fixation, burning fossil fuels, and waste. Mixes with water in the air to form nitric acid which is apart of acid rain and reacts with voc"s to produce ozone and smog. Caused by combustion of sulfur containing fuels such as coal and oil. Mixes with water in the air to make sulfuric acid to make acid rain. Health effects on heart, lungs, and eye and skin irritation.
