Donald"s super theory of career development: developed in 1957, highly researched found to be very applicable and relevant. Individuals develop careers in stages and career decisions are not isolated from other aspects of their lives. There are 5 distinct career stages across the life course, each with specific developmental tasks and issues to resolve. Identify with other adults in their lives: develop work-related attitudes, develop competencies and strengths. Exploration age 15-24: consider multiple careers, crystalize career performance, you will still be not completely decided; still moving and thinking about different career. Implement career plan possibilities within the field of what you want to do exactly. Establishment age 25-44: you get stabilized in your job, you continue to move up and advance in your job (we hope to) Maintenance age 45-65: hold achieved job, update tasks, may reevaluate and renew career goals; may get additional degrees.
