Muckrakers: used media to bring attention to issue they believed to be wrong. Public outrage prompted the reform until the public grew sick of the daily muckraking. Radio began and was a big part of the great depression. Supported the rest of her family when parents died of yellow fever when she was. Wrote about her court case where she was asked to move cars although she bought a first class ticket in a religious paper living way. Purchased ownership of memphis free speech and headlight in 1889 and became the editor. June 4th, 1892 free speech was attacked by lynch mob, wanted to lynch her but she was away covering a story. Continued her work on staff of new york age because she was too afraid to return to the south.
