Operating system act as the policeman of the internal operation of the computer, helps allocate resources. Language translators binary is the language it understands, we code in higher languages, different generation languages 3r are procedural 4th are nonprocedural. Interpreter language takes a program and translate it one statement at a time and then sends it to execute. Compiler takes the whole program and translates it into machine language. Utility programs help us as users with house keeping activities of our systems. Application software - software that the user interacts with to achieve a specific purpose. The relationship among the system software, application software, and users can be illustrated by a series of nested boxes. System software consisting of operating systems, language translators, and utility programs controls access to the hardware.
