Steady couples were told to rate the goodness of their relationship. One group was instructed to think of reasons why they think their relationship was good and another group were told not to think of reason. Reasoning causes lower consistence between ratings and outcomes. Reasoning causes a worse estimate about how good something is. Especially for those who have been together less than three months. The more you know, the more sensible ou are. But knowledge can make causes of liking more accessible. Subjects were instructed to select cars, apartments. Got four minutes to make a choice. The group given more options made worse choices. In the study, one told the group to focus on details given to them when making a decision. Simple group focused more on details and made better decisions because they had less options. A reason why affect from different sources and properties combine into a single state and are directed at current object of attention.
