Document Summary

Number of friends/family, frequency of contact, making new acquaintances, involvement in organizations. The relationship is not linear, those with more friends aren"t happier. There is an optimal number but it varies. If you build friendships then neglect them, it won"t count. Low positive affect is often linked to illnesses like psychopathology. Includes but not limited to: social phobia, agoraphobia, ptsd, schizophrenia, eating disorders, substance abuse. Note: low positive affect is associated with illnesses separate from negative affect. Most closely linked to our general concept of happiness. This can promote social justice, but we can also be motivated to take revenge. More easily able to immerse ourselves in activities. It is better to do this because living constantly in this state causes us to be less mentally healthy. Not directly related to what we"re currently experiencing. It relates to our future which is unclear. Inspires us to move in a positive example.
