Queer is an in between point-putting on gender because gender is about presentation-not as simple as identifying as male and female. Sex and gender are not the same thing-sex is biological and gender is how you identify (deeply intertwined) Learning-performance: something you learn and perform (how you walk, how you sit, etc) We often think of both as binaries (only two options for gender or sex (intersex-biologically distinct sex and not very rare). Neither of them are: some cultures have more than two: genderqueer/genderfluid people, intersex people: genitalia, chromosomes, other physical aspects. More intersex people in the united states than jewish people. Nothing intrinsically feminine about pink, he"s gay-imitating parents. No reason why we should attach pink nail polish to a particular sexual orientation but we do: can"t talk about gender without talking about sex, this will be wrong in long run but don"t know why.
