How basic social processes operate in group contexts. When people organize in groups to complete tasks, the recognition that people receive from their performances often does not match the quality of their contributions. Men tend to get more credit than women for same contributions. Power- ability to obtain what we want in group despite resistance. Status- position in group based on esteem or respect. Justice- perceptions that a social arrangement or distribution is fair. Legitimacy- the sense that a social arrangement or position is the way things should be. Influence- the ability to get what you desire without force. Explores the situational status processes that take place where individuals. Allocate status to group members based on expectations and performance. There is a small group with similar characteristics that span the individuals of a group. The task of the group is in some manner intrasystemic. The individuals in the group are collectively oriented. Consists of task-based experiments that employ ambiguous tasks.
