Green stripe: so crude and lack of finesse, green stripe down the middle making her two faces (crude and good one) Woman in a hat: aggressive application of color as we see, contour, flattened volume and perspective by using same color on her chest fan and background. The joy of life: quoting canvas by seurat, use of color again to flatten it out, theme of dance in bacchanal by titian and by the impressionists, color independent of nature. Harmony in red: modern art moving into creating ambiguity in terms of perspective, volumes by manipulating color, flattened volume, trees very generic like yellow christ by gauguin. The dance: flattened volumes from unmodulated color and heavy contours, very ambiguous. Red studio: limited contours flattening perspective, heavy color. Wanted to start to use materials and sources for art that was previously not accepted.
