Major role of a producer causing a film to be financed (putting together a package and showing it to a buyer and getting it financed) The real issue of financing a film is just because you get he avg. million to make it if you don"t find distribution you went get the money to cover those costs. Samuel goldwin was a producer that was also viewed as a studio . Since then, producers have fallen in importance, them and screenwriters are now at the bottom of the totem pole. Typically people may go to see a movie because of a big name actor or director but not a producer or screenwriter. The producer can also have a role in the production of the film (if they chose to) because technically financing the film is the only required part of their job.
