Executive: enforce the laws that have been passed. Judicial: interpret the law that has already been passed and determine if the law is constitutional. Different branches and different powers of them: fundamental constitution protections for defendants. Know specific amendments: the role of courts. Provide a location where disputes are resolved in a fair and impartial manner. Have judges that apply the law without regard to what the government wants or what the public wants. Make decisions based on what the law says and what the evidence proves, without bias. The fair and equitable treatment of al individuals under the law: assembly-line justice. Due to large case volume, overworked officials are often more interested in moving cases quickly rather than reviewing each case carefully in order to reach a just result. The most commonly advanced reason that criminal courts do not administer justice is due to assembly-line justice. Too many cases and not enough judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys.
