Document Summary
Research methods in archeology and biological anthropology: mulidisciplinary approaches. Paleontology: study of ancient life through fossil record. Palynology: study of ancient plants through pollen samples. Bioarchaeology: study of human skeletons to reconstruct physical traits, health status, diet: forensic anthropology-to understand the impact of various events on the human skeleton. Remote sensing: using such things as aerial photos, satellite imagery to ind ancient structures: analyzing the landscapes, constructs maps of ancient socieies, trade maps, etc, done by nasa, cannot see with the naked eye. Paleoanthropology: study of human evoluion through fossil record: fossils: remains, traces, or impression of ancient life forms, typically requires a team of scienists, students and local, survey and excavaion workers. Systemaic survey: provides regional perspecive by gathering informaion on setlement paterns over a large area. Setlement paterns: distribuion of sites within a region. When you have a survey, then you know where to start your research.
