Prior to this people thought that air caused illness. Then people realized that illness comes from germs. Brought about ideas of having cleaner drinking water. The government should be the ones to clean the water, waste, etc. Religion also helped motivate the progressive era: 2 religious movement. As christians, we should live a christ like existence. When jesus was on earth, he devoted his life to the poor. He hung out with the leper"s, the poor, the prostitutes. If were going to the christians we should be trying to help the poor people in the tenements .
