Essentialism: men & women biologically have something called an essence that differentiates them. Minimalists: men & women aren"t that different. It is deconstructionism of consciousness and breaking it into smaller pieces. He studied with all men and there were no gender differences. He didn"t care about structure but more about function. He believed that women were less intelligent and less apt to succeed. It was an improvement that they considered differences but they belittled women. Focus on the observables (ie stimuli & responses) He used animals to study on because they are easier to observe in bulk. His emphasis was on learning the excluded social factors. He thought that early experiences matter and shows that anatomical (sex) differences cause conflict. Boys more complete resolution >>> conscious & morality. Men identify with their fathers more than girls identify with their mothers. The differences in conflict resolution render men ahead of women.
