What is the purpose of an abstract- To give lots of info that could be turned into a 20 page research paper but sums it up. Quick way to see if paper is useful. What are the parts to an abstract- A short written roadmap for what would appear in a longer argumentative research paper. Explains the reason your research is needed. Readers se abstracts to determine whether your research may be of interest to them. Journals and conferences also use abstracts to determine whether your work should be accepted. What is the importance of the research. What changes should be implemented as a result of the findings of the work. Does does this work to add body of knowledge on the topic. Take an arguable stace which your research supports. Might be a call to action or claim that one side is morally/ethically/legally superior. Clearly articulate an argument that would appear in a longer research paper.
