Egyptology is helpful for making relations between different cultures, even though egypt was very ethnocentric. Materials sciences is a combination of all the different categories of science. Examine ancient artifacts to learn about the society. Hieroglyphs were primarily used for religious writing or for writing on stone. Were difficult to understand because symbols could have any number of meanings. Hieratic was used for more day to day writing. Neither were used in israel or juda for functional works.
