Battles were often recorded in the form of reliefs on palace walls. Artists would have been brought into the field with them. When arrayed for battle (ready to fight), a field army occupied an area of 2,500 yards across and 100 yards deep. After the fall of rome, napoleon was the first to muster such a large army or procure as many horses for the military. Before the assyrians, horses were primarily used for chariots and scouts. Had large cavalry squadrons, with a special logistics branch in charge of supplying the 3,000 horses per month. The assyrians were the first to have their soldiers wear boots and not wear sandals or have bare feet. Built a good road system and maintained it. Bridged the area between the northern kingdom of israel and the various aramean kingdoms surrounding. It was much easier to read and write than assyrian. Soldiers had 3 pounds of wheat per day, and only 2205 calories daily.
