PSIO 303B Lecture 5: PSIO303BLectureObjectives
Document Summary
Lecture list: introduction, cell/tissue organization, homeostasis, feedback loops. Case introduction, eye structure, intro to visual pathway. Turnover & degradation, rod disc production, lysosomes, proteasomes y polyubiquitination. Synapse 1: general principles, pre vs post-synaptic, glutamate, synaptic vesicles, vglut: synapse : iglurs vs mglurs, postsynaptic depolarization vs hyperpolarization, eaats, pclamp. Lecture 1: know the basic characteristics of living systems- A. metabolism b. responsiveness c. movement d. growth & differentiation e. reproduction: understand levels of structural organization- cells, tissues, organs etc. Cellular level- smallest living unit of the body. Tissue level- group of cells and the materials surrounding them that work together on one task. Organ level- grouping of or more tissue types into a recognizable structure with a specific function. Organ system-collection of related organs with a common function (sometimes an organ is part of more than one system) Organismic level- one living individual: know what we mean by the term homeostasis. Homeostasis - relative constancy of the internal environment.
