Strong ai can exist but it is different than our minds. Gap between computer and mind is semantics: mind has syntax and semantics, computer has only syntax. Know facts and rules but don"t actually know what they are talking about (meaning) Is merely implementing the right computer with the proper inputs and outputs, thinking: no, still not anything more than syntax. Consciousness is an ambiguous term referring to many different phenomena. Easy: ability to discriminate, categorize and react to stimuli in the environment, integration of information by a cognitive system, reportability of mental states, focus of attention, deliberate control of behavior, wakefulness vs. sleep. Exploring the hard problem and tries to solve this: doesn"t make sense that we have physical parts experiencing the, rejects physicalism, mind and consciousness is above something physical world around us. Maybe a soul or something higher: not necessarily valid. Nothing non physical (cid:498)will find evidence one day(cid:499)
