Demeter is scared because she doesn"t come home. The two gods tell her they heard her. Demeter wonders the earth, she goes to eleusis disguised. They try to help her as an old lady, and bring her to a newborn baby. She lives with them, and raises this baby. As a divine nurse, she takes this baby and buries him in the hearth. Metaneira sees demeter putting the baby in the re. She gave up her divine duties, no crops have grown for a year. Zeus sends all of the olympian gods to convince her to do her job. Zeus told demeter he gave her to hades as a wife. Hermes was sent to the underworld to retrieve persephone. He makes her eat a pomegranate, making her stay in the underworld for 1/3 of the year. Demeter doesn"t do her duties for 1/3 of the year. Judges: rhadamanthus, minos, aeacus area for good (elysium), are for evil (tartaros)
