Expectations in presidential leadership: legislature was supposed to be the most important/powerful branch. Since has changed so that the president has more power than before. What was the state of the country when they came into office: first 100 days. Statistically the most productive and influential time period of a presidency. President often judged based on what they accomplish in their first. Taking advantage of the position: proven that the worst presidents did not take advantage of the position, boosts public opinion when the president influences the nature of the position. Foreign or domestic policy: domestic policy is harder to work with. Harder to go through the system with the checks and balances in our country. Often when a president is not successful with domestic policy, he works with the foreign policy as it is easier to accomplish things. Relationship with congress: president is more successful and efficient when he gets along with congress, partisan support.
