What children should know and when they should know it. By the age of five children should: Use correct terms for all sexual body parts. Understand the concepts of and be able to identify maleness and femaleness. Know where babies come from - how babies get there and how they get out. Be able to talk about body parts without feeling bad, dirty, or naughty. Be able to ask trusted adults questions about sexuality. We value sex ignorance and sexual silence or to put it another way: we are sex saturated but sex silent.
