Document Summary

I interviewed dr. nory jones about her past experience in the business world in order to understand how technical writing was used in her career. Study director creating reports needed by the federal government. Here is what i discovered about how communication, both written and oral played a role in her business career. Written communications consisted of mainly formal reports that had a common structure, which was to be followed. It was quite rare for a written memo to be given out or emailed across the company. Much of the internal communication was done through oral weekly meeting with staff members. These meetings were used to express ideas, concepts, share problems, and present plans. There were also monthly upper management meetings which were useful for collaboration on recent status reports. These types of verbal communications were essential for updates, but also were used to influence the written reports.
