30 views4 pages

Document Summary

Russian numbers are formed similar to english numbers in some respects. Numbers 11-19 have the ending (cid:806) (cid:829) which is the equivalent of the english teen. It may seem that the larger russian numbers have very different forms, but there is a system to how they are organized. Numbers that start with 2,3,4 tend to have similar forms. Numbers that start with 5,6,7,8,9 tend to have similar forms. This split between the numbers might be familiar if you think about russian minutes, hours, and years. 1 (cid:805)(cid:795)(cid:806) 2,3,4 (cid:805)(cid:795)(cid:806) (cid:795) 5- (cid:805)(cid:795)(cid:806) (cid:1005) (cid:824) (cid:813) (cid:1006),(cid:1007),(cid:1008) (cid:824) (cid:813) (cid:1009)- (cid:824) (cid:813) (cid:783) (cid:1005) (cid:784) (cid:1006),(cid:1007),(cid:1008) (cid:784) (cid:1009)- . It can be tricky knowing when to add (cid:829). If the base number (1-9) includes a (cid:829), then one will not appear at the end of that numbers 10s equivalent. Just like with english numbers, there are different forms for first, second, third, etc.
