● Pick adaptations:
○ K or R selected (humans vs. mice parenting)
○ Nocturnal or diurnal
○ Size
○ herd/pack or lone
○ Carnivore, omnivore, herbivore (theropod)
○ Marine reptile: filter feeder, mollusk eater, fish eater?
■ Record these in Question 1. Explain the advantages and disadvantages
your traits give you
● Pick where your animal lives, based on the answers to question 1
○ Desert, mountains, grasslands with monsoon and dry seasons, coastal, swamp,
jungle, polar region, Ocean: tropical/polar
■ Explain how your animals traits make it fit for this environment?
■ Explain its ecology: What are its food sources? What is is food for?
● Now the environment changes!
○ Warming trend, cooling trend, new predator to threaten you, new competitor, ash
cloud blankets sky for 2 yrs, drought or sea level falls
■ Evaluate how your animal species will have to deal with your
environmental change
■ Describe the fossil evidence that would be left, showing this change
happened to your species
