From tobacco to coton (a brief culture of southern agriculture) Tobacco dominated economy of great britain"s colonies throughout 17th / 18th c. Coton culivaion & producion was expensive, ime consuming, & besides that there, was no market for coton prior to 18th c. 17th / 18th c. are interrelated that coninue to shape poliical economy well into. As a demand for tobacco increased, more people grew tobacco. More people growing = prices go down. To stay proitable, farmers need to grow a lot & need more land. Why does the south"s agricultural economy shit from tobacco to coton in early. Planing coton & not tobacco made planters fabulously wealthy. South originally was 1st place on earth naturally suited to coton farming.
