Psy 101:intro to psychology: lecture 11:motivation and emotion. The state of flow exists between anxiety of being overwhelmed and stressed and underwhelmed and bored. Flow is described by intense concentration and emerge in activity. When demands are too high we feel overwhelmed and stressed and when the demand is low we are underwhelmed and bored. The idea that people are rational decision makers, so they analyze benefits and cost of actions. So people will work hard if their effort improves performance, when good performance is rewarded and when value rewards are received. This bring attendance and motivation in work. We are influenced by whether we perceive that the rewards are equitable with the performance. We think that we should be paid fairly based on the work we do. If we do not get paid equally to the work we do we tend to do less work. A construct that is difficult to define. Expressive behavior in the face and body.
