Media the message and the messenger: if you want to understand what is happening in our society, you need to understand the content of the media. Feeling secure when you"re a child but losing that as you get older. The ideal image of the body is more impossible than it was before : digitally altering to make her un-humanly possible. We get conditioned to think anorexic women is the norm": causing women of normal body weight and size to have body dysmorphia. Challenges: men to have success and power, women to be pretty and skinny enough. People see women as objects to the point where they begin to see themselves as objects. High self-objectification = low political advocacy: if you have an entire generation that believes that their value lies in their body, you have an entire generation less likely to run for public office and to vote.
