Horrible boss we laugh because it was a woman harassing a man but not when it is in the reverse: the stereotypes do not allow for different interpretations. Women are nurturing : prejudice evaluations (affect) Women are wonderful because they are nurturing or women are weak because they are nurturing . Links to sexism: discrimination behaviours (behaviours) Origins of stereotypes: theory 1: kernel of truth . Example: men are physically stronger and taller than women. Evidence: there are several empirically shown differences: theory 2: adaptive categorization. Good to make fast decision; we have limited cognitive resources.
