A lot of their usual and accustomed grounds fell outside the reservation boundaries. Treaties do not grant any rights, they only affirm them. U. s. government sees themselves as a more sovereign nation that of the indigenous (cid:374)atio(cid:374)s, thus they are a(cid:271)le to (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ge a(cid:374)d (cid:373)a(cid:374)ipulate treaties to their heart"s (cid:272)o(cid:374)te(cid:374)t. Reservations are not recognized as state lands; they are protected in trust by the u. s. government.
