We need feminism because we aren"t able to live in a world where we can all be equal, a world of peace and possibility. We must also end racism, class elitism, and imperialism. Thursday, 9/25/2014 (hooks) feminism: it has evolved over time. It is a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation and oppression. Reformist: works for gender equality within extant social systems, as it exists now. Works to deal with things that happen in the system right now. This is the one that will address the root causes. This one is working to change, but not necessarily within the system. Lifestyle: this may be distortions on the first two. Benefitting from feminism, without actually inputting into the movement. They may hold feminist ideals, but will not act when they see something unjust happening. Power: the media allows for this type of feminism to be hated. It would be the intense, bra burning type of feminism.
