John adams read peine"s writing and helped push his idea. Thomas jefferson helped write the declaration of independence. Congress then made revisions and finalized it. Idea of men in dec was up for debate. Copies of the declaration was copied and passed out to all the colonies. During the war, nyc was in chaos: people"s possessions were taken away for the war. The flag for colonists back then was only the red and white strips with a british flag in the corner . The british would always walk in a straight line during battles allowing for easy targets. The establishment clause states that the govt can"t have an established church, such as the church of england. Also, americans could have or not have a religion.
