The Psychology of Love & Attraction  Proximity: geographic nearness is a powerful predictor of friendship. Repeated exposure to novel stimuli increases their attraction (mere exposure effect)  Physical Attractiveness: once proximity affords contact, the next most important thing in attraction is physical appearance. BUT are there any “rules” that predict attractiveness?  Symmetry: relates to genetic fitness  Average: face that is most familiar to you rather than exotic or stand-out face  Childlike features: big forehead, fuller lips, big eyes,  Animals will look longer at pretty faces.
