Depressants: depressants, decrease nervous system activity, reduce feelings of tension and anxiety, produce a state of euphoria, alcohol is the most widely used recreational drug in many cultures. Ecstasy (moma: feelings of euphoria, wakefulness, intimacy, sexual arousal, structure, similar to serotonin, toxicities. Increased heart rate: cognitive effects, headache, agitation, hallucinations, autonomic effects, shivering, sweating, increased blood pressure, somatic effects. Increased temperature: decreased sodium, brain swelling -> brain herniation, seizures, liver destruction, life threatening increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Bath salts synthetic cathinone: 10x greater dopamine than cocaine, serotonin. Increase in sex drive, sociability: most dangerous when injected, signs of overdose, violent behavior (homicide), paranoia, agitated delirium. Incontinence: delayed symptoms > 6 hours, more serious and potentially fatal, delayed liver failure. Lsd: hallucination, experiences sensory perception in absence of external stimuli, trip, bad trip, dysphoria, fear, agitation, flashback.
