Reticular formation: highly involved in arousal and attention (where norepinephrine comes from) Thalamus: rallies incoming sensory information to proper areas of the cortex (ex: auditory info to auditory cortex), kind of like the mailroom. Hypothalamus: controls endocrine system--in charge of hormones and biological functions, like hunger and sex drive. Cerebral cortex: complex thought and behavior: most personal behaviors and thoughts and emotions happen here, the outer wrinkly part of the brain, frontal lobe.
