Mother who is obsessed with keeping her son safe and cleanliness. Disorder - a common set of signs and symptoms. Disease - known pathological process affecting the body. Diagnosis - a determination as to whether a disorder or disease is present. Posttraumatic stress: events (recently changed from ptsd to pts) can occur in people who have been exposed to traumatic life. Severe symptoms of anxiety and distress that were not present before the trauma. May leave peopel vulnerable to get other stress disorders. Overreactive neurotransmitter systems involved in emotional responses. Neurotic anxiety: occurs when unacceptable impulses threaten to overwhelm the ego;s defenses and explode into consciousness. Classically conditioned fear responses after a traumatic experience. Somatoform disorders: problem but have no known biological cause phsycial complaints or disabilities that suggest a medical.
