ANS 2 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Seminal Vesicle, Spermatozoon, Bulbourethral Gland
Document Summary
Sigmoid exture: curve; extended or withdrawn, sometimes has a bone(dog) Penile urethra(ureter): bladder empties via; reproductive uids. Vas deferns(ductus): drains mature spermatozoa from the epididimis; joins uretra and dumps contents; joins testis to urethra. Accessory glands: vesicular gland, ampullary gland, prostate, bulbourethral: purpose: dump buffering agents into seminal uid, neutralizes ph of vagina so sperm can survive, energy for sperm. Spermatogenesis: takes place in testis; gameyte produced goes through epidydimis to mature(6 weeks) to get a mature spermatozoa. Penis housed in sheath to protect it. Testis in scrotum; temperature control to keep cooler. Pampiniform plexus: heat exchanger for blood arterioral comes from body which is warm and veinous comes from testis which is cool. Veins and arteries to capillaries to allow exchange between veinous and arterial. Seminiferous tubules: spermatogenesis takes place blood and back tubules drain to epididymis, drains to vas deferens, drains out of body. Final maturation of spermatozoa takes place in female tract.
