I didn"t really know much about the term ahistorical before the readings. After i read 3 readings by freire, menchaca, and mann, i learned a lot more and have a deeper understanding about the term. Ahistorical does not occur in the world . (freire 39) The next definition comes from, menchaca in constructing race by menchaca. And she also talked about how the anthropologists treated mexican americans like they are. Immigrants and peasants that had no contribution to the nation"s infrastructure culturally, technologically, ot architecturally, (menchaca 134) Last definition is in the reading, 1491 by charles mann. The author, mann, talks about the holmberg"s mistake as a metaphor for ahistorical thinking. Both people and the land had no real history (mann 100) mann used this quote and also described how lack of agency to relate to ahistorical.
