CMN 10Y Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Interpersonal Communication, Physical Attractiveness, Deeper Understanding
Document Summary
Interpersonal comm can be viewed as the fundamental of almost all kinds of human commu- nication. Communicating with others, either face to face, or through computer mediated mediums. Simply communicating a lot does not mean that one can communicate well. Practical benefits: increase effectiveness in personal, social and professional life. The more you know about interpersonal comm, the more insight and knowledge you will gain about what works and what doesn"t work and why. Interpersonal comm is the verbal and nonverbal interaction between 2 or more interdepen- dent people. Because of this interdependency, interpersonal comm is relational in nature. Takes place between people who are in some way connected which means that what one person does has an impact on the other person. Ex. a child"s trouble at school may affect the parents. It always takes place within a relationship. It influences the development of the relationship.
