We often choose entertainment content to non-consciously manage our mood. We subconsciously seek things that will pull us towards a positive mood. Does(cid:374)"t (cid:373)ea(cid:374) (cid:449)e lost tra(cid:272)k, (cid:449)e are o(cid:374)l(cid:455) highly involved. More likely to transport if we agree with their perspectives. We unlikely to transport if the material is too simple or difficult. Para-social relationship is ongoing, parasocial interaction is experienced in transitory way (not permanent) Can end (para-social breakup: results in increased sense of sadness & loneliness. Everyone experiences transportation & para-so(cid:272)ial relatio(cid:374)ships (cid:271)(cid:272) of (cid:449)illi(cid:374)g suspe(cid:374)sio(cid:374) of disbelief. Is a fundamental prereq for enjoyment of entertainment content. Choosing to not be dismissive of things we know are not real. W/o it, enjoyment of media will be nearly impossible.
